Gold Education
Gold is a precious metal that has been sought after for ages. It has served as a symbol of wealth and a store of value throughout history. Gold in its pure form is noted as 24 karat. It is a very soft substance and very expensive. Due to that manufacturers combine it with alloy to make it a different karat. The other most commonly sold gold karats are 22k, 18k, 14k and 10k. The lower in number the more alloy and less pure gold is in the item. This added alloy makes the gold stronger and more dense, as well as more affordable. A gram of 22k is much more expensive then a gram of 14k due to more pure gold being in the 22k. As the karats go down from 24k to 10k there is a distinct difference in the shade of yellow. 24 karat is a very yellow mustard like shade whereas 10k is a softer yellow. Gold comes in various colors including yellow, white, rose and black. Gold prices increase yearly and it is still used is a symbol of wealth and store of value.
Black Gold
Black gold is made by applying black rhodium over white gold. Like all rhodiums it will wear eventually and we offer free re-plating under our lifetime warranty. Usually customers send their rings in once a year for this service and during that time we also check the prongs and clean the item thoroughly.
